Every girl has a dream about Provence. The endless lavender fields, the aroma of the scent, the heart and soul. Dreamy romance, intoxicating, no reason.

However, Provence is too far away, leaving us with many regrets. I don't know, look at lavender without going to France, Huocheng County in the Ili Valley in Xinjiang, can satisfy all your illusions about Provence.

If you want to position a city, then Huocheng is the city of lavender. Located in the northwestern part of the Ili Valley in Xinjiang, Huocheng is the third largest lavender planting base in the world after Provence in France and Furano in Japan. It is also the only major lavender producing area in China and is known as “China's Provence”.

In the 1960s, the Ministry of Light Industry introduced three varieties of lavender from Provence, France. At the same time, it was planted in Huocheng, Xinjiang, Henan, Henan, Kunming, Yunnan, and Xi'an, Shaanxi, but it was only planted in Huocheng.

Why is lavender successfully planted in Huocheng, Xinjiang? My friend told me that Huocheng is located in the Ili Valley, which is “plugged into the south of the Yangtze River” and is open to the west. Influenced by the warm and humid air currents in the Atlantic Ocean, the Ili Valley has a unique inversion temperate climate. It is very similar to the geographical location, climatic conditions and soil environment of Provence, the world famous lavender grassland. It is one of the few areas in the world suitable for lavender cultivation. One is therefore known as the “Hometown of Chinese Lavender”.

After decades of careful cultivation and development, Huocheng Lavender planting area has reached more than 50,000 acres, accounting for 97% of the country's total lavender production, and essential oil production accounts for 95% of the country.

Mainly concentrated in Huocheng County and the Agricultural Division 4 65 group, 70 groups. The main varieties are Space One, Jieyou No. 5, French Lan, etc. Among them, French orchids are the most widely distributed. In September 2004, the lavender seeds selected from the 65th group were put into space. After a month of space baptism, the lavender seeds returned to the 65th group and grew well under the careful training of the 65 team technicians.

Every year in June and July, the Ili Valley in Xinjiang is sunny and picturesque. Under the blue sky, in the breeze, in the sun, in the fields... tens of thousands of acres of lavender are rushing to bloom and merge into a purple ocean.

The blue-violet flower sea is undulating, and the fragrant aroma of lavender gets into your nostrils, making you feel her strong. Huocheng has also become a veritable "fragrance city."

It is understood that in recent years, more and more farmers in Huocheng have turned their attention from the cultivation of food crops to the cultivation of more lavender. The number of farmers planting lavender in Huocheng has now reached 15,000. They hope that the lavender planting industry will bring them a better life.
